New England Shed and Barn was founded on a simple
principle that a wood shed should be built to last.
That’s why we "hand build" each shed
with the highest quality building standards, and using
the highest grade lumber (we even mill the lumber
ourselves)! And there are plenty of options
to choose from.
The reason we build on site is because our sheds
are easily twice as heavy as the other sheds. It also
allows us to “stick build” which means
we can build in less than perfect sites. We build
our sheds using the same rigorous construction as
a house (not a cheap box with flimsy construction
like some competitors).
Service
The first difference between buying from us and the
"big box" stores is our high-end service. You
buy from the manufacturer direct. In the event there
is a problem or questions there are no departments
or different companies to pass the buck. We custom
design, which the "boxes" can't do.
Flooring
We have the highest floor rating in the industry.
Our floor is constructed using 40 year Pressure treated
4x4 beams and full cut 2x6 or larger floor frames.
Our flooring is full cut 1" planks graded
for flooring use. Our competitors use undersized floor
members and plywood on the floor. The floor members
will sag in time and the plywood will delamenate.
Nothing can be done to repair these sheds as the basic
construction is so poor. Our floor rating is the highest
in the industry. This is most important because once
the floor sags the walls twist, the windows break
or pinch, the doors do not close and the roof drops.
Framing & Roofing
We use full cut 2x4 wall studs 16" on center.
No one else does this. Our clapboards are 100% native
white pine. Our clapboard sheds are actually constructed
like a wooden boat (lapstreak). Clapboard is the #1
siding used in New England because of clapboards ability
to repel the elements. Most competitors use clapboard
only on the front and then cheaper materials on the
sides. We use 100% clapboard siding on all four sides.
We also offer storage sheds in a premium red cedar
shingle siding.
Our roof is constructed using full cut 2x4 or 2x6
pre engineered roof trusses. Then we use the same
1" planks on the roof as we use on the
floor. The shingles are either 25 or 30 year asphalt.
Windows & Doors
Our windows are custom made awning style with screens.
We designed awning style because if the window is
left open no rain will get in the shed. Our standard
48" door is the largest in the industry.
